Rangers Practice Patience

Brett Cyrgalis of the NY Post writes today about the difficult decision head coach John Tortorella has when Sean Avery returns from injury and who will sit in his favor. Here's an excerpt:

"The guys are playing well," Avery said yesterday after a close-to-full practice. "It's not to say that I'm not effective at 85-90 percent, but I think it's unfair to the team, and I don't think it's fair to myself, to [come back] this early. "

One of the main reasons the Rangers are 2-1-0 without Avery -- and carrying confidence into this matchup with the team that knocked them out in the first round of playoffs last year -- is a direct result of the stellar play from the guys who are most expendable."

...I like Sean's diligence with his injury. Rather than come back too soon he's taking his time and making sure he's as close to 100% as possible. It's a shame someone has to come out of the lineup (considering they're playing well) but you're adding more quality and more grit with Avery. It'll be just fine.
