King Henrik Reigns Supreme, NY wins 4-2

Post-Game Thoughts:

- The Rangers are getting the breaks and are rolling now. 6 in a row, a 4-0-0 start at MSG and, dating back to last season, are 12-0-1 in their last 13 regular season games.

- It seems to me the Rangers have good 1st periods, excellent 3rd periods, and sloppy 2nd’s (no pun intended, Sean). All kidding aside, nearly every game this season so far the Rangers are outplayed in the 2nd frame. Something to keep an eye on.

- Ales Kotalik and Michael Del Zotto are becoming quite the tandem at the points on the PP. Kotalik now has a 5 game point scoring streak (3 goals, 4 assists) and Del Zotto is leading all rookies in scoring and 2nd in the NHL in points for a defenseman with 7 (2 goals, 5 assists).

- Expanding on the Rangers’ PP, 7 games into the young season and it’s become a legitimate threat to score; something that was desperately lacking last season. After going 0-9 in the 1st 2 games, New York has gone 9-25 and has scored 2 PPG’s in 3 straight games.

- I think Gaborik in Czech means clutch. Every one of his goals (6 now on the year) have been scored in the 3rd period. The Rangers had only 1 shot on goal in the 3rd period and it was Gaborik’s blistering wrist shot that gave them the 4-2 outright.

- Congratulations to Brian Boyle for getting his 1st goal of the season last night against his former teammates. While we’re congratulating, hats off to Vinny Prospal for notching his 200th NHL goal.

- Ryan Smyth showed us why he may have some of the best hands in the NHL, deflecting a great shot, top corner, over Lundqvist for LA’s 1st goal. However, something tells me Tortorella will have something to say, as the Rangers blew their defensive coverage down low, allowing Smyth to simply skate in front of Lundqvist unfettered.

Next Game: Sat. @ Toronto 7:00pm
